Arisu

Alice-like keyboard by FateNozomi

Built 2020-07-27

Sound Test

As my very first Alice-like board, the Arisu was made by local designer FateNozomi. With his permission, this was one of the largest-scale group buys I had done so far, totaling two rounds with over 40 units. This build log includes photos from that group buy, as well my as personal build.

Laying out the PCBs from the fab

This project turned out to be a lot more involved than all my previous ones. For starters, the PCB fab couldn't do SMT USB ports, so I had to source out a third-party to finish the assembly after the fact.

Acrylic fab was done locally, and came out nicer than I expected, which is a big plus.

Programming the board was fairly straightforward, with just a quick compile of the QMK firmware, the flashing and testing workflow didn't take too terribly long. Fortunately there weren't any manufacturing defects that I had to deal with.

The matte black came out really nice too
