Sound Test

Itching to get something with a little more heft, I decided to upgrade to the Tofu 60, and go all-in on this next revision of my original DZ60 PCB.

Unboxing things is half the fun :)

My wallet disliked this picture.

I spent some time hand cutting 3mm EVA plate foam (by hand, which definitely I don't recommend.)

Never again.

Switches this time around are Gateron Blacks. I wanted something a little heavier than browns, and with the build being acoustically focused, I opted for the softer-topped milk variants.

(Some assembly required)

Having de-soldered the previous build to use its PCB, there were a few jump connections I needed to make. Not the prettiest, but at least everything was kept hidden from sight.

Pain

More foam to reduce reverb

Having put so much effort into making the board sound good, it came across really well in the final sound test. I found the 80g springs to be a touch too heavy for continuous use, and in the end they were only in the board for a under a week before I swapped them out. Definitely a big fan of how these turned out though. :)

Lamenting the global shortage of 1.75u right shifts
